There’s an App for That!

We are proud to announce that STAR is now offering the use of a web-based mobile application to all patients. For the past year I have been working with Netsmartz, a locally based software development company, with the goal of using this application to increase compliance with home exercise prescriptions and patients’ understanding of their condition.  

The application has 2 major components - "Home Exercise Builder" and “3D – Educate.”

This will allow STAR Physical Therapists to provide patients with their personalized Home Exercise Program as well as information regarding their Condition that can be accessed right from an app in their smart phone! The output from the “Home Exercise Builder” consists of photos and videos of each exercise and “3D – Educate” is a collection of animations that illustrate and explain common orthopedic conditions.

Now, for those of you who are technology-challenged, don’t fret. This application also has the capability to provide you with a print out or email.

Home Exercise Program participation and consistency is often the key to successful rehabilitation. For many it is difficult to remember the first item on their “to do list” let alone 6 exercises their Physical Therapist gave them 2 days ago. I am confident this application will help even more patients to make a smooth recovery!
